Otherwise knowns as ISAs, the Ideological State Apparatuses were created by the French Marxist, Louis Althusser. He believed that there are different institutions within our society which socialise us into accepting dominant ideas and values. These ISAs include; religion, family, politics, etc. Each of these provide different ways to influence people into changing their values and beliefs. For example, the religion ISA gives the promise that if you were to follow their rules you will be rewarded in the afterlife.
