The chairman of the board of the company Jelly Belly has helped fund the efforts so they can repeal bill 1266. In September, he donated $5,000 to the Privacy for All Students Company (Smith 1). This bill was signed by California Governor Jerry Brown this August; “This bill requires the state’s transgender students to be allowed to “participate in sex-segregated school programs and activities, including athletic teams and competitions, and use facilities consistent with his or her gender identity, irrespective of the gender listed on the pupil’s records” (Smith Qtd. in Brown 1). This is important because the school is supposed to be a safe place for kids, so they can be free and show who they really are and these laws are taking away all of that. For example, “We know that these young people face the most bullying and discrimination and assault, you name it, not only from the outside world but often from their own families, neighbors and close associates” (Bahrampour Qut. in Bowser 1). This matters because this makes teenagers who already have enough problems to deal with, but on top of it all they can not feel safe anywhere they go. The big question going around is should transgenders use the bathroom they want or the one they were born with. So if people take a person's rights into play with this, is that they should use the bathroom they perfer not the one they were born with. The sad thing is most people do not care enough to let people have the rights they have always deserved. This put them below what people think of a normal human being and the truth is no one is normal it is a concept that is made up of nothing.
