Explain Why Books Should Not Be Banned Essay

Hautman wrote, “Yes, books are dangerous. They should be dangerous-they contain ideas” Have you ever thought of a book that just brought you to tears or left you hopeless. Not all books are bad for you, they can help show emotions and ideas. Many people believe that books should be banned in some schools for their references to murder, adultery, and incest. For example, people would believe that “The Invisible Man” and “Call of the Wild” should be banned because of blood and inappropriate actions for teens. I believe that “The Call of the WIld” should not be banned because it teaches the wrong of abuse, shows an opinion or experience, and it is a classic piece of literature. “The Call of the Wild” shouldn’t be banned because it teaches us the wrong of abuse, For example, it describes what it was like to be abused in the eyes of a dog. In the story, the author Jack London wrote, “They overloaded the sled, beat the dogs, and planned poorly.” This explains the cruelty that their owner left them with. First Jack London shows what the animals' thoughts are, by saying, “ He was beaten (He knew that); but he was not broken” This explains that the dog knew that he had been treated wrong by humans but, he was still going to fight through the tough times. Another way would be it shows so of the detail of what happens or is experiencing. The story states,”but to his surprise, the rope tightened around his neck shutting off his breath.”(London). This explains what the dog experienced as the rope tighten to cut off his breath. Going off of that the opposing side would state that the experience is too strong and harsh.
