This story is full of adventure making it a book that people who don’t usually like to read actually enjoy, In chapter 2 Buck starts to learn how to be part of a sled pulling team. In chapter 1 it is said that “his eyes turned blood shot, and he was metamorphosed into a raging fiend. So changed was he that the Judge (his owner) himself would not have recognized him.” This is the first time Buck starts to change because of anger. Buck learns to adapt to the new conditions, he becomes leaner and stronger. In chapter 3 huskies come and everyone gets injured, later in the chapter the dogs were crossing thin ice and kept falling in, but they survived. Buck almost died several times, but he was strong enough to survive. In chapter 7 Buck makes friends with a wolf, then he starts to act more like a wolf than a dog, lastly Buck becomes the leader of the wolf
