The cajita project lets me went back and reflects about my past and the people who were a part of my life or used to be a part of my life. Through this journey of working on the cajita project, I choose things that I felt that it represents me and what I went through to be where I am today. It was hard to find objects that represents me or that shape me to be who I am today. In my cajita box, I have 5 items in it. Each items are what represent me and shape me to be the person that I am today. In my box, I have my family photo, a Hmong baby carrier, a bible, my youth group, and my graduation tassel. I put my family photo in my cajita box because they are the main supporters toward my education. My brothers read proofread my college essays …show more content…
This item represents my culture and as a daughter in a Hmong family. Furthermore, it represents my duties as a daughter in a Hmong family. My duties as a daughter was important than education but as time went by, it was reverse and education became more important. When my baby brother was around 1 years old, I would have to carried him on my back to help my mom so she could cook for the family and clean the house. I always enjoy carrying him when I was younger. This item is very important to me because it was made by my grandma who is my mom’s mother. My grandma was able to made 5 of the baby carriers before she left us to a better place. It was a gift from my grandma to me, my sister and my bothers’ future wives. This is the reason to why this items is very important and close to me. The third item is my bible. I am a Christian and my religion is important to me. When I was in my Junior and Senior in high school, I got an opportunity to teach Sunday School at my old church. The church was small and they thought that I can teach since I was old enough. Teaching Sunday School sparks an interest in teaching. As of right now, I am at a new church, I am currently teaching Toddler’s Sunday School and I enjoy it very much.
