The cheapest place to live, with most of the land untouched and unowned. Wildlife everywhere. Brisk mornings. Surviving off only the essentials. They couldn’t disagree that the idea was definitely worth considering. His parents eventually married and saved the money to move. Alaska was on their list because a cousin of theirs owned a cheap cabin. The Cabin was a little over 50 miles from Nome. A city on the Western side of Alaska. Surrounded by wilderness. A few miles to the north is a lake. During the summers, Ian dared to submerged his legs in the water. Right before sprinting to his parents and covering himself up. Every trek to town, an adventure. Taking his father’s ATV’s, the trip was much quicker than walking. Ice caused the ATV’s to break down constantly. Often nights he would wonder to the lake just to sit and watch the moon. Thinking about what life would be like anywhere else. Hunting in the woods brought Ian to be closer to nature in a more knowledgeable way. A lot of what Ian’s parents knew about hunting came from experience from living where they live.
