Classroom Setting
One of the first things I noticed when walking into Mrs. Curl’s classroom was how pleasant a place it was. Not only was it clean, neat, organized, and colorful, but it also possessed a fun, child-friendly element that made it look like a place any kid would enjoy spending long periods of time in. Mrs. Curl would play music softly in the background at the beginning of her class when the children were doing educational busy-word to keep them occupied until everyone arrived and she was ready to begin the lessons. This improved the atmosphere tremendously as the music was, at times, soothing and at other times fun, kid-friendly tunes that got the kids excited and happy. All in all, Mrs. Curl’s classroom was a pleasant place

Curl’s room were creative, informative, and very aesthetically pleasing. She had a bullitine board for nearly every subject covered in her class including one for math, english, and science. The math board explained both addition and subtraction and in the middle of the board were two alligators with their mouths open in order to explain the concept of greater than, less than, and equal to. The science bullitine board included facts about the weather since that is what they had been disucssing so far. The english bullitine board included a chart of all the letters of the alphabet as well as one explaining the writing process. It also sported sentences and illustrations created by the students, allowing them to be involved in the bullitine …show more content…
Curl’s lessons were highly interactive and ensured that the students were involved as much as they possibly could be. Sometimes she would read to them from her book and then they had to all read the same sentence back to her from their books. This is called echo reading, which is “a method of modeling oral reading in which the teacher reads a line of a story and then the students echo by reading the same line back.”(p.g. 227). Sometimes she would show them a new concept using the smart board and she would call on students to come up to the smart board and draw in or select the correct answer. Sometimes when Mrs. Curl was busy, she would put on an educational youtube video that taught the kids something valuable through a song. These videos were agreat idea because it got the kids up out of their seats, it got their energy out, but it also helped them memorize how to count by five, how to count two one-hundred, and things of that nature through lyrics they could easily memorize. Every lesson was interactive and kept students engaged in

Admittedly, my experiences in Mrs. Lanza’s classroom and William F. Halloran School impacted me both as a future educator and as a person. Observing both of Mrs. Lanza’s classes, I learned a great deal about how important it is to both listen to students and adapt to their educational needs. As seen in my daily log entries, Mrs. Lanza was extremely flexible when it came to class activities. In fact, Mrs. Lanza would alter the class schedule depending on how students were reacting. For example, she would revisit challenging materials, take a break from activities that were causing frustration, and even plan an easy class period in response to heightened student excitement.…

Seventh grade, my second year now at what I thought to be the worst school in the world. On back to school night I met a man who would change my perspective on life completely, that man being Brandon Lilly. Henry Adams once said “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” At a mere five-foot four he appeared to be a kid minus the burly lumberjack beard that he possessed. I remember being skeptical at first because I had never had a male teacher before.…

My field observations took place at Renaissance Charter School at Central Palm. I honestly had a wonderful experience and I really enjoyed my time there. I was assigned to Ms. Pickholtz’s 1st grade class. When I first arrived to the charter school I was extremely nervous and a little anxious because just the thought of actually helping a teacher run a class seemed scary to me because I felt like I would do a horrible job at it. However, I was welcomed by both the teacher and the class…

I arrived at Easton School District’s Forks Elementary School at around 8:45 a.m. that morning, a few minutes before the children were let in for class, to observe a 4th grade classroom. The instructor for the class, Mrs. Powell met with me in the main office to walk me down to her classroom. The first thing I saw when walking into the classroom was all of the different learning tools around the room, Mrs. Powell's use of both chalkboards for different objectives was just one, along with open reading areas. The classroom was set up into different 4 person groups, in which the students were able to work together and collaborate. When I was getting settled into the classroom around 9:00 a.m., the students began to arrive officially starting…

As I entered into Mrs. Cindy Rodgers classroom, I felt the fear come back, I do not think I can work with students of this age. 3rd-grade students, I felt lost and out of place. 22 students, around 9 years of age, just don’t seem to be my forte. But on the other note, this class definitely surprised me. With 14 girls and only 8 boys, the class was sat up on a totally different way than I have ever seen a class.…

On November 28, 2017, I spent my fourth day with class 3-213 at P.S. 45. During this time, I felt I was able to confidently encounter, converse, and assist the children with varying subject matters. At this point, the children even felt comfortable enough to ask me for help. Additionally, my cooperating teacher, Mrs. Jessica Diaz, is still extremely helpful and even allows me to teach the students in small-groups. By working in small-groups, I have been able to facilitate learning on an individualized level.…

In the meantime, four students from other classes came to Mrs. Botta for help in language arts. Since I received similar training in the spelling, writing, and reading skills that Mrs. Botta implemented, I enjoyed watching the knowledge I learned being used in a classroom. Once her eleven students returned, Mrs. Botta taught reading, comprehension, and writing skills to her own students. Occasionally, a guest came to read a short story. I witness how engaged the children were as the book was read to them and how they eagerly answered every comprehension question…
