The theme of my favorite chaperone written by Jean Davis Okimoto is to always have your family’s back no matter what. Family is important and you should always be there for them. The reason I think that is the theme is because in the book Maya has to help out her family by doing her mom’s work when her mom gets hurt. That is showing that even though she does not want to she has to help her family out and be there for them. When Nurzahn goes to the dance with Maya that is very thoughtful of him.…

The first pair of men I picked who displayed friendship in the novel was Armistead and Hancock. I chose them because although they were on the opposing sides, the two men both remained very close friends. Armistead wanted the Confederates to win; Hancock wanted the Union to win. Neither of them wished for their friend to get hurt in the war though. On page 314, Armistead says, “If I lift a hand against you, friend, may God strike me dead.”…

Bud, Not Buddy Modern Era Bud, Not Buddy, is read all over the country because of the Great Depression, but if it was written in today's times, that would not be the case. If this story was written in the modern era a lot of things would be different. Bud's mother wouldn't have died, Bud would've had more knowledge about Hooverville, and Bud would have been able to find Herman E. Calloway's exact location. I think the changes in this story would make it a lot more eventful. If this story was written in the twenty first century, Bud would have a different life story.…

“Things Are Rough All Over” There are many social groups these days, some are good, some are bad, some are rich, or poor, but no matter what kind of group the lives of these people are never going to be perfect, there’s always going to be something wrong. In the book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton the author portrays the theme by explaining what makes a group a group, and by showing how someone can feel alone, but be a part of a group. The characters in this book go through a lot of changes and they evolve throughout the book with having the support and trust in their friends.
