The character of Nick has been exposed to scientific ideals which clashes with his father’s religious morals. Although these two perspectives always contradict with each other, Nick decides to embrace the scientific ideals, and introduces this new way of approaching the world to his father. However, the father is not convinced with his son’s ideology, he raises hand on his son to express that he resents his son’s worldview. As a result, the son is provoked to leave his father, and pursue his own beliefs. Consequently, the son follows his beliefs and becomes a renowned geophysicist. After Nick becomes a geophysicist, he wishes to rekindle his relationship with his father because the love he always had for his father is still alive. The same idea is true for the father, he has Nick’s artifact, the globe as a memory that reminds him of his son. Henceforth, Kreisel raises the idea that conflicts in family always exists due to different perspectives different members encounter - everybody does not always mutually agree with the same concepts, and vent out their anger on others. However, the anger outside is not essentially true about our inner feelings - we are not conscious about others or our feelings. It is significant for us to empathize others point of views because they might feel the same about us - eventually, the love for our closed ones always
