Steve was proud and confused at the same time. He knew that this was a misunderstanding and he had nothing to do with being a bad guy. He realized that he was working for a dangerous man named Mr. E. Mr. E has been trying to find a specific artifact. This particular artifact is only known by two people in the world. One man was a former librarian the other an author and librarian, JJ Beckley. He was the author of the book An Illustrated History of American Quilting. Not only did the book give good information on American History, but it more importantly gave clues on where to find the quilt. The quilt itself was Macguffin Quilt and it had all of America’s secrets sewed into the piece of fabric. Mackintosh and Ms. Bundt knew that Steve wasn’t a bad kid and offered him a spot on the librarian’s side. But Steve refused and told them that it was a misunderstanding. He hopped out of the van. He ran to police office before anyone could kidnap him again. He reported the kidnapping to the police office and settled everything there. But the papers kept on rolling in and Steve couldn’t hold it in. As the police chief walked up the stairs to his cabin, Steve overheard the chief figure out the fax machine’s message. Almost immediately, Steve packed his bag and jumped out of the building. The police officers were shocked and made a neighborhood search. By the time the search ended Steve was already nowhere to be found. He leaves the city to search for Mr. E and put him to justice. After a couple fails he comes out of hiding and meets his step dad Rick Elliott who also happens to be a cop. His step dad acts like he was on Steve’s side but then betrays him. He then steals his Rick’s car and drives to his school. On the way he meets Ms. Gilfeather his teacher. He tells her about all the adventures he has gone through. He even shows her his notes. Then she asks for a photocopy of the notes he took which was very suspicious to Steve. He agrees on the deal and moves on to the library. While driving there in his dad’s car he sees Ms. Gilfeather heading in the same direction too. Steve then drives his car as fast as he could and made sure he could get a big crowd. As soon as he did, he announced that he solved the mystery. He
