The Briggs-Rauscher-Reaction

Decent Essays
In an oscillating chemical reaction as the Briggs-Rauscher-reaction, the composition of the mixture is complex as a result of some chemical species which exhibit periodic changes. Consequently, such a reaction has an intricate rate law which makes it difficult to determine experimentally. Due to this fact, the paper investigates if the mathematical model Lotka-Volterra including the classic and logistic versions can be used as a description of the Briggs-Rauscher-reaction. In this context, a thorough extermination of the Briggs-Rauscher-reaction, both theoretically, but also experimentally by determining the activation energy and achieving the absorption spectrum of iodine ( I_2), is given. Furthermore, the Lotka-Volterra system of equations

This lab was a two week long lab called the Grignard Reaction lab. The purpose of this lab was to perform the Grignard reaction and to obtain the final product triphenylmethanol from a halide, phenylmagnesium bromide and the starting material, methyl benzoate along with the Grignard reagent. Bromobenzene, magnesium turnings, and anhydrous ether were needed to form the Grignard reagent. To synthesize the reagent, react the reagent with methyl benzoate to form a tertiary alcohol. The objective of the Grignard Reaction lab was to obtain the actual yield of the product, to calculate theoretical and percent yield of the product, and to record the melting point of the product.…

Abstract: The Grignard reaction was successfully accomplished. An amount of 1.20 ml of 2-methyl-2-pentanol was collected, and 9.60% yield was calculated based on the theoretical yield. Despite the low amount of 2-methyl-2-pentanol, its identity was confirmed by comparing the experimental refractive index and infrared spectrum to the literature refractive index and infrared spectrum of 2-methyl-2-pentanol. Statement and purpose The purpose of this experiment is to synthesize a specific alcohol by using the Grignard reaction.…

During the game I saw some inappropriate behavior executed by the spectators on the UC Davis side. I noticed this inappropriate behavior during the game when the opposing team was awarded a free throw. The spectators from the Davis side, which also included Band-Uh, would start making noises, such a making an "ahhhhhh" sound whenever the player was getting ready to shoot the ball into the hoop. Although I know that the intention was to distract the player from concentrating, I thought it was inappropriate considering that the spectators from the other team did not do this when the Davis team was awarded a free throw. In addition, I feel that carrying out these types of behavior as a spectator is interfering in the performance of the athletes.…

This relates to the notions of progress put forward by Enlightenment, for humans aren't being held back by the church in that their minds have strengthened knowing the Earth isn't the center of the universe anymore, for example. This progress also relates to the French Revolution for the last phase after Thermidorian Reaction is the reign of Bonaparte, who sets forth the ideals the revolution started with, including civil code, and many revolutionary principles.
