The Breakdown of Family
Being a teenager is hard. There is school, and most people do not understand how much work that teenagers do. Teenagers balance sports and homework and church. With school, due dates are all on the same day, and it feels like everything is crammed together.
School takes away any time that teenagers might have to have fun. Teenagers also have to deal with their parents. Their parents and family often do not understand all that a teenager has to do. Parents are constantly yelling at their kids, not understanding and listening. The only thing that helps teenagers to get by is their friends. In “The Outsiders” by S.E. In just one week, three teenagers die. First Johnny kills Bob to keep Bob from killing Ponyboy. Then Johnny dies from his burns from the church fire, and Dally dies when the police shoot him because he has a gun. The deaths of Johnny and Dally are really hard for the gang. It breaks up the only family they have. The deaths also scare Ponyboy. He realizes that things need to change; if things do not change, he could die, and he could lose the family he has left. Ponyboy and the other boys have stick together because they do not have anyone else. They cannot depend on adults; the adults in their lives have left them.
