It was the first day of highschool... I was awake and ready to make new friends, meet new people, and most of all, get out of this house. I slipped into my beautiful blue dress that I had worn every year since I was little to my first day of school, most obviously I mended it and changed it up so it would still fit me every year. I was proud of my dress, it had once shone bright one but has now faded like my childhood as I refuse to let go. I slipped out of my room before 8 am and grabbed a warm, kind blueberry muffin I had made the night before. Most of my friends had moved away so I knew this year would be harder. I sat there in the shade as they gave the pledge of allegiance. I saw familiar faces but school felt lonely. As I walked into school and into my first hour I could hear the girls snickering about me but I ignored them because I knew starting the year on a bad note wouldn 't be a good thing. Besides, I saw this really cute boy. He sits 3 rows in front of me and too seats to the right. He seemed kind and smart as he answered the teacher 's questions. He took out an umbrella and we both huddled underneath it as we walked from house to house. “So, what did your father say about the newspaper?” he asked. Nervously I responded clenching to the dime I had made that week from my job, “My dad said sure, you can’t put a price on knowledge.” “That 's great,” he said, “do you have the money with you?” I responded, “Oh yeah,” taking the shiny dime out of my pocket, as I handed it to him my heart sank but I did it anyway. When we had reached the end of north-end and came up to my driveway I told him,” I’ll meet here every day to pick up the paper, you should not have to walk up to my house.
