Bruno and Gretel are taught about the war going on by people who surround them such as their father, Lieutenant Kotler, and their History teacher. They are taught to hate Jews and see how poorly the Jewish servants are treated in front of them. Bruno’s father tells him that Jews are not considered people due to how low their socio-economic class is. This issue of socio-economic class caused a great amount of devastation and many lives were affected by it. Many lives were taken only due to prejudice and the thought of being superior.
