Shmuel was sent to the camp with his grandparents who were later killed on the farm and Shmuel assumed they died on the way to the camp from diseases. He was unaware that they were burned to death on the camp. Bruno eventually figures out that Shmuel was a Jew that was brought to the camp with his father. After building such a good friendship with Shmuel Bruno decides he wants to go on the other side of the fence with Shmuel through a hole he dug under the ground to enter the camp. Once Bruno entered the camp, him and Shmuel were immediately asked to take their clothing off for what they called a “shower”. They were then packed with other prisoners in a gas chamber where they both died together holding each other’s hands. Not only does this film talk about the Holocaust and the terrible events that took place during this horrific time during WWII. But it shows on easily humans can be taught to hate people because of their beliefs, or skin color, or ethnicity. People are so easily influenced by “He say, She say” that they commit crimes such as what happened on the concentration camp. Innocent people were punished for absolutely nothing.
