When the Seven Years War ended, the British had to inflict a series of taxes to help pay for winning the war. This taxing was highly unpopular with the colonists, in Massachusetts, the colonists even began public protest and angry confrontations with the tax collectors. During the winter of 1769-1770, the colonists harass the British troupes at every given moment. On night, while Private Hugh White was guarding the Boston Custom House, a group of men began pelting him with snowballs, and started threatening him, that’s when he called for backup.
