The Book Thief By Anne Frank: Why People Are Good At Heart

“Despite everything, I believe people are really good at heart.” These are words spoken by Anne Frank a famous Jewish girl during a very tragic time. This tragic time was known as the Holocaust, a horrific time in our history where millions of people were murdered. Anne did not survive this event but yet she still believes people are good at heart. Most people would say that there is evil hidden in our hearts, but I disagree. I believe that people are truly good at heart. I believe that people are good at heart. A reason I believe this is because not all Nazi’s are evil and they didn’t agree with Hitler. In the scene from The Book Thief it shows, A Nazi helping a Jew named Max escape the other Nazi’s that would be soon to take them away but, the Nazi only has one passport so Max’s mom can’t come with him (The Book Thief). In the text from The Holocaust Encyclopedia it says, “Opposition ... ranged from non-compliance with Nazi regulations to attempts to assassinate Hitler”(Holocaust Encyclopedia). In the text from Anne Frank the Diary of a Young Girl it states, “The majority of Germans supported Hitler or acquiesced in his government, though many were disturbed by his ways” (Frank). …show more content…
In the text from the Holocaust Rescue website it states, “Bert and Anne hid 37 Jews in their home”(Rescue). From the text in the book Anne Frank the Diary of a Young Girl it says, “Miep made a lovely Christmas cake on which was written peace 1944”(Frank). Lastly in one of the scenes from The Book Thief it shows, Rosa, Papa and Leisel feeding Max a Jew even though they were almost starving themselves (The Book Thief). This reveals that some people are willing to give their food and water and shelter up for someone else. This also shows that these people are good people because they are willing to sacrifice everything for Jews and other
