With every word spoken a new experience can be caused. In Markus Zusak’s, The Book Thief, a compelling novel where words are more than what is printed on a page, Zusak shows just how powerful words are. Words can have the power to connect, heal, destroy, and cause new understandings on a multitude of levels. Zusak demonstrates that for words to have the power to heal one must first experience the destruction caused by them in order to understand human nature thus resulting in rebirth.
