In The Book Thief, Liesel often stands up for Max, even walking with the Jews to find Max. Liesel wasn’t afraid to call to him, to look for him because she knew what the Nazis were doing was wrong. In The Help, it’s the same thing. Skeeter stands up for the help by putting toilets on Hilly’s lawn, writing the book about Jackson, even if it meant losing all her friends around her. Liesel and Skeeter fought for what they believed was right, even through the hardest of times. The difference between Liesel and Skeeter though, is more promptly in their age. Liesel was young when the war came to be, so she didn’t fully grasp the idea of war. She knew there were bombs, that she hated Hitler, but you never really could feel her grief of war until everything
