In literature it is depicted people came to America with a dream to become successful and own a white picket house. These immigrants do not end up where expected when they first arrive to a new country, though this unexpected the ending is often better and gives the person a sense of accomplishment. In The Book of Unknown Americans, by Cristina Henriquez, this is seen in many of the people in the different chapters; such as Nelia Zafon and her desire to become a part of the theatrical arts. In Nelia Zafon’s chapter she tells her story of coming to America to be an actress; as she moves from being homeless to an inspired woman who one day became successful with her own theater which became a part of her identity.
