The Book Of Life

The movie The Book of Life is alike to the Spanish Holiday “Día de los Muertos” (“The Day of the Dead”) because gives you information about the holiday. The Book of Life shows us how the people celebrate the holiday in joyous fashion remembering the loved ones who have gone to the grave. This is also alike because the people who are remembering the loved one puts a bread at their grave which they did in the movie. They even have the two realms that the passed ones go to “The Land of the Remembered” and “The Land of the Dead”. These are important because if the loved one isn’t remembered on “The Day of the Dead” they will rot in “The Land of the Forgotten”, but if you honor them they will party in “The Land of the Remembered”.

To my surprise there were three book which caught my interest and had good reviews: The Coke Machine, The Race Myth, and Gang Leader for a Day: A Rogue Sociologist Takes to the Streets.…

In Arthur Maurice Hocarts article “The Life Giving Myth” published in 1953, Hocart gives evidence for his criticisms against the established “kinship extension” that persisted in the 20th century. In comparing the meanings of established “extensions” of non-native kinship terms made between a number of languages, he demonstrates that these “kinship extensions” not only serve to muddle the meaning of the original word but can have disastrous, widespread, effects on our understanding of other cultures. In the article Hocart calls for a solution to the issue of kinship extensions and offers the solution of “neutral notation” which would be similar to phonetic nomenclature. Precisely why this neutral nomenclature is so uncommon is also answered in the article; native words…

The book of Job and Ecclesiastes are written from two different points of view, but still have some of the same underlying messages in the text. Job is the signature character in the book of Job and his life is put on display for the reader. This story about suffering, faith, and trials raises a big question for the reader to discover and interpret, why would the Lord make his chosen people suffer again and again and not step in to stop the actions? The book of Job also makes the reader try to connect their personal life to the life of God. Ecclesiastes is a book in the Bible where God is not very prevalent within the text, and also tends to separate the people on Earth from the holy Savior because lack of wisdom.…

Critical Analysis Paper # 3 Analysis of “Religion Gives Meaning to Life,” by Louis P. Pojman Introduction: In this article, “Religion Gives Meaning to Life,” Louis P. Pojman believes that religion, but mainly a theistic religion gives purpose and meaning to life. Pojman feels that, since people cannot prove that theism is true or not true, then therefore, people should live like theism is true. A world with theism, living life following a higher being would be a better world than living a life of self-governing, autonomy. Lastly, Pojman believes that living in autonomy is not really affected by having a religion or faith but instead religion may help everyone’s autonomy because they will have more purpose for their personal goals.…

Despite a quite universal acceptance of life as precious and worthy of preservation, the debate over human life has raged on for many years and in many situations. Specifically, biblical views on life and the preservation of this gift have brought tension and attacks on the holistic views of Christ followers. Many Christ followers would argue that life comes at conception and this disallows such actions as abortion or negative treatment of a woman 's body especially during the time of pregnancy. I would argue that the life of person does not come at conception ultimately even though it biologically begins but exists in eternity past abiding within God 's plan. John 1:3 states that, "All things were made through him, and without him was not…
