The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki happened during the final stages of World War II, “The most recent war to end all wars.” It included the vast majority of nations, including the great powers, forming two great alliances: the Allies and the Axis. It was the most immense war in history. In war effort, many countries threw their economy and people into this war. Everyone had their part in this war. Since so many people, civilians and military, were involved, many people died. Thus, making World War II the deadliest conflict in human history. Germany had just been invaded by the Western Allies and the Soviet Union. War in Europe had just concluded and Nazi Germany signed its surrender on May 8, 1945. Why else would he write it??????? So this same tragic event won’t happen ever again. So that hundreds of thousands of people will not have to die! Hundreds of thousands of civilians died because their country wouldn’t surrender. Kids, parents, grandparents, innocent people all died. This should never happen again. World war III shouldn’t even be a thought. Instead of focusing on trying to make more nukes, we should focus on peace, on ending other major problems around the world. I get it. Truman was faced with a very difficult decision, but it was either kill or get killed. He didn’t want to risk any more American lives. Let’s just hope that those are the first and last atomic bombs ever needed. No more nukes, no more casualties, no more
