The Boating Party Mary Cassatt Analysis

Decent Essays
Mary Cassatt painted an oil painting on a canvas that is 35x46 in the year 1893 and it is called The Boating Party. I don’t really care for the painting. Some parts seem very sloppy although she seemed to work for a very long time.
In the picture you see a man woman and a child in a boat. They are moving to or from the shore. The sail boat is yellow and white along with the oars, while the woman is in a light blue dress with either a pink floral design or pink shading. The man is rowing the boat in a blue in black outfit. The city in the background is fading away to show. How the boat is painted it shows makes a person feel excited and calm the same time.
They people in the boat seem to be having a nice time. The woman that is holding the baby

For the required writing assignment I felt that the piece by Anna Vallayer-Coster, Still Life with Lobster, was the painting I wanted to review. The piece was completed in 1781by Coster. The focal point of the painting is the Lobster. When discussing focal point it is actually defined as the point where the artist has the prospective viewers’ eye go immediately upon first viewing the work of art.…

These is My Words Using a first-person narrative, the reader can sometimes detect that Sarah is interpreting other people’s actions and feelings incorrectly. If the book had been written in third-person, it would not have left the reader in anticipation and excitement for Sarah to discover what the others actually felt, as the reader would not only focus on one person. For example, readers could tell from the very beginning that Sarah had “stolen [Jack’s] very heart away” (Turner 285). However, because it was told from Sarah’s point of view, readers watched her slowly fall for him and discover his affection towards her. Sarah is a unique woman, especially for her time period.…

    1. I do not think that this song is appropriate for an intervention with this client. “Michael, Row Your Boat Ashore” is a religious selection which makes it inappropriate for use with a client who is struggling with her faith. This song mentions the River of Jordan, which in religious text, is the boundary of “The Promised Land”. The mention of this in the song can be interpreted as a metaphor for death and the journey to “Heaven”.…

Reading Rosenberg’s thoughts in her chapter “A Good Sailor” she once again seemed to take more of a top down approach, although she studied many people her main focus was on the men who made people disappear. I believe that this provided a unique prospective of how one looks at the events that have taken place. Like she had stated in her chapter on El Salvador “The Laboratory” many journalist focus on the most obvious victim but not on the men and women of a higher social status or in this case the men committing the crimes against humanity. I believe that Rosenberg in this chapter could have explored more into the sense on duty the men in the military had. Alfredo Astiz for example was born into a military family, his father was part of…

Her upbringing reflected her family's high social standing; Cassatts lived in Germany and France, from 1851 to 1855, giving the young girl an early exposure to European culture and art history.…
