The Blue Boy by Rakesh Satyal and Moonlight by Barry Jenkins both tried in their best ways to show what it really like for young people to be going through this. Both stories contained young colored characters who were going through the oppression from being colored and being assosiated with LGBTQ. Although the people who created these stories are completely different authors the two main characters within each story hold many things in common.
In Moonlight the name of the African American kid is Little and through the lense of the camera we, the audience, are able to watch these kids life. The movie takes place in the low income part of Miami, Florida. Raised by a single mother and being smaller than many of the kids in school Little is seen being bullied. The background information is important because it reflects to the typical struggle of a poor black family during that time.
