Racism has been around for many years. For many of the youth targeted by this, which parents have no control of. It’s an issue that many colored people have to carry with throughout their lives and for many the weight it carries is just to much to bare. Targeted racism can lead many children and adults to a cave of depression where the light of hope seems to never appear or even exist. The positive is that you’re not alone. There are millions of people who will look like you, so finding trust and comfort within them can be very easy. The Blue Boy by Rakesh Satyal and Moonlight by Barry Jenkins both tried in their best ways to show what it really like for young people to be going through this. Both stories contained young colored characters who were going through the oppression from being colored and being assosiated with LGBTQ. Although the people who created these stories are completely different authors the two main characters within each story hold many things in common.
In Moonlight the name of the African American kid is Little and through the lense of the camera we, the audience, are able to watch these kids life. The movie takes place in the low income part of Miami, Florida. Raised by a single mother and being smaller than many of the kids in school Little is seen being bullied. The background information is important because it reflects to the typical struggle of a poor black family during that time. In one of the first scenes Little is being chased by many bullies from his school. Little decides to trap himself inside an abandoned crack spot so that the bullies cannot get to him. As
