At first she made comments like “If I scream call the insurance company” this at first made me a little confused, being the “good” Christian woman that she is, wouldn’t this be the last thing you should be saying? When creating a performance that focuses on the expressiveness of the body the actor must no longer rely on their face as their gateway to expression. By introducing a mask the actor has to stop thinking of his or her face as a focal point and instead they must represent the character feelings physically. ‘There’s a freedom that comes from putting on the mask, expressing yourself solely through your body’ (Schiffman, 2005). The ‘Neutral Mask’’ (Lecoq,2009:p39) is the perfect starting point, it is a mask without expression or characteristics and it's blank nature forces…

Everyone has different views on subjects and these differences can cause conflict. The maxim Keep Your Enemies In Front of You is displaying how to use conflict with others as an advantage. I feel that this maxim can apply to modern life and politics because human connections are changing perpetually. Mathews states that “the opponent in one fight is often the valued ally in the next” (Mathews 92).…

In Through the Out Door: A Rebellion Against Societal Expectations As a teenager it seems an expectation that I venture through a phase of discontent and insubordination of my way to adulthood. It is anticipated that I will become a nuisance to my parents and other authority figures, predicted that I will develop an arrogant attitude and presumed that I will focus all of my built up aggression and other hormonally imbalanced emotions on spontaneous, destructive acts of rebellion, self-proclaimed to be “stickin’ it to the man”. In fact, it is so thoroughly understood as an integral part of growing up that the example usage when googling the definition of the word “rebellion” is “an act of teenage rebellion.” and Jeanie Lerche Davis, a freelance medical journalist, once wrote “All teens go through [it]...testing authority” (). Of course, it would be easy to rest the blame of this cultural phenomenon on the shoulders of the most recent generations, namely, millennials.…

The idea of a subconscious mind with thoughts the conscious mind is unaware of has been around for a long time. Popularized by Sigmund Freud’s research on psychoanalysis, his theory focused on the idea that everyone has thoughts and urges in their subconscious mind that never make it to the conscious mind for them to be acted on. The book, Blindspot: Hidden Biases of Good People, explores a similar idea in terms of unconscious bias and preferences present in everyone. The book also examines the relationship between our unconscious bias and our behavior. During Launch into Loras and the ropes course, some of these biases were present and affected the behavior of the group.…

A being that uses expression or application of their imagination and creativity to create a piece of work that causes emotion or a reaction in any sort of way is an—artist. The reaction do not have to be necessarily positive nor does the piece itself have to be aesthetically pleasing (if visually presentable); nevertheless, I do consider that the "cherry on the top" or a bonus. I think Sandow Birk defines what a successful artist is. Some of his prints and drawings plays off of what some consider controversial laws and events.…

Literature has been a way for people to express themselves and to let the future generations know what has happened in the past. Without literature it would be very hard to document and teach history, and our favorite stories would not exist because nobody wrote them down for us to enjoy. Literature is the easiest way to keep people entertained and informed. But being that it is so old, It has changed.…
