The Blind Side is based on a true story about Michael Oher, and the events that took place before becoming a left tackle for the Carolina Panthers NFL team. The movie starts on a mysterious 17-year-old black boy whom no one seems to know anything about. He is rather large and intimidating, but quiet and mysterious. Michael attends Briarcrest Christian School but has been in and out of different schools all his life. Early in the film Michael is seen walking down the street in the rain by the Tuohy family. When asked where he was headed he said, “the gym.” Leigh Anne Tuohy seemed puzzled, however, she soon welcomed him into their home. The good deed soon changed not only Michael’s life, but the whole Tuohy family and the surrounding community. Michael Oher’s life might be substantially different today without the support of the Tuohy family. Throughout the movie Michael fights many struggles including learning the game of football, raising his GPA, and dealing with possible NCAA violations. In The Blind Side Michael is referred to as an “onion,” and it is said by Mr. Tuohy that he needs to be “peeled back a layer at a time.” It Turns out he was exactly right. In the present day, the international Jews control virtually every major media outlet in the world. Broadcasting companies such as Disney, Dream Works, Time Warner, ABC, CBS, and many others are owned and operated by this elite class of Jews. By controlling the media they can then control what the world sees and believes, thus affecting the ability to discern lies from truth. Although each country has an independent currency, these currencies are printed and distributed by Jewish controlled central banks, including the American Federal Reserve. Adolf Hitler warned us of this forthcoming danger and sought to rid the world of this threat.…

Work ethic shown in athletes in expressed through their hard work and determination. This can be seen through their constant efforts to become better at their craft. The story of Michael Oher is one I will never forget because of the way it has motivated me as a student athlete.…

Many films throughout history, have not only illuminated some culture’s shortcomings but the strength and ability to deviance in hopes of attaining meritocracy. It is within the arts, films, music and literature that are produced by a culture that researchers can identify the evolution of change from analyzing the micro symbolic interactionism between individuals to the social consensus in the functionalist theory that produces an organic solidarity. Each of these theoretical paradigms allow one the ability to change perspectives in order to deduce how values and norms are modified. Although each theoretical theory can be applied to the film, “The Blind Side” it is while utilizing the macro conflict theory, that social inequality is seen to…

Throughout history, humans have isolated one another based on what they consider defining characteristics; Americans frequently treated one another poorly due to race. Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man highlights the values of a culture or a society by using a character who is alienated from society because of his race. The narrator, or Invisible Man, feels as his name describes him, invisible, because he is African American and has been ignored, forgotten, disregarded, and overlooked throughout the novel. His white counterparts disregard his existence, worth, and humanity causing a sense of alienation to develop in the narrator. These isolating experiences the Invisible Man endures throughout his journey reveals the unjust morals of the novel’s…

“The Blind Side” is a film depiction of the life of NFL left tackle, Michael Oher and his miraculous transition from being a homeless teen to becoming an NFL first round draft. The film follows the development of Michael as he is taken off the street by the Tuohy’s and with their support became involved with football. I chose this film because it portrays the social and behavioural development of a teen without a stable upbringing and how it affects his relationship and encounters with others. The movie does not only show the development aspect of one stage of adolescence but follows Michael’s character from childhood to his adult years. As well, the movie forms basis of comparison between Michael and the Tuohy children.…

In this film the idea that a young man with a poor self-concept and self-esteem could be transformed by words is a testament to what having positive and supportive particular people in your life can do. By the end of the movie, Michael Oher was a changed man with a new identity, positive feelings of self-worth and high self-esteem, because the Tuohy ‘s changed his self-concept. Their relationship grew with the using of techniques such as the Johari Window technique and by successfully overcoming conflict. All relationships in general are tested through conflict which we all experience in life, but I believe that if these relationships survive they are solidified. Like the great NFL hall of gamer Tony Dorsett said, “Pressure either burst pipes or make a diamond” (Dorsett).…
