Football is, in my opinion, a beautiful game. I absolutely love the game on every level. Football has impacted my life in an extremely positive way. I’ve learned so many valuable lessons in my life through the game of football. Michael Oher’s life is portrayed in the movie the Blind Side. My life and Michael Oher’s life are very different, but the impact of the game on our lives may very well be similar.
Going from being a struggling homeless kid to a division one athlete is quite the transformation. Michael Oher’s transition into a successful athlete is quite an incredible story, a good enough story to be a bestselling novel and phenomenal movie. Everyone who acted in the movie did an excellent job, portraying their characters perfectly. The transition from book to movie was beautiful. Obviously my story isn’t the same. My life story is complicated, but I’ve never struggled to find a place to sleep. Similar to Oher, I don’t know

Oher never quit, and worked as hard as he possibly could in order to reach his ultimate goal, to play in the NFL. Quite obviously, our goals are different. In the movie, Michael established that he wanted to go pro. He was a physical specimen, huge, with quick feet. Through the entirety of the film, Michael is shown working towards his goals. He initially struggled in the classroom, but through tutoring and working extremely hard, he achieved the necessary GPA. “Courage is a hard thing to figure. You can have courage based on a dumb idea or mistake”. This was a life lesson, because it spoke to a different form of work. Obviously, he would have to go excruciating workouts in order to achieve his goal, but the concept of working equally hard in the classroom is less than appealing. Being taught life lessons through the act of playing a game is obviously not ideal, but it has worked extremely well,
