The Blind Side Movie

When I first read the instructions for this assignment, I was quite confused. I was unsure of what film or show I would write about. It’s not often one hears the word “utopic.” It’s easy to pick a movie or show that involves discrimination in gender, race, class, etc. It’s not easy to find one that shows us the exact opposite, or how one should be really treated. For the representation of how both race and class should be gone about, I have chosen The Blind Side as the film I will be writing about. For this movie is a great example of how people should treat one another regardless of the color of skin or the amount of money someone has. I understand that not everybody has watched this film and so here is a short description of what it is about: This movie is based on a true story involving offensive left tackle for the Baltimore Ravens, Quinton Aaron (who in …show more content…
Racism still exist, but the Blind Side was able to show us how the South still has a big hurdle to overcome. The Blind Side was nominated for multiple awards because it showed how harsh our country still is.
The best part of this film is the way many people can actually relate to it. There are many teens especially in poor neighborhoods that are raised believing that there’s nothing more than the usual poor life they have. Movies like this one is what gives other people hope that there’s a better world. The fact that it’s based on a true story is what actually makes others believe that there are good people out there willing to help one another.
People are often too quick to judge just like some are really judgmental when they see someone poor. Poor people often also judge upper class people that are actually trying to help and offer others a better life. It also shows how if someone sometimes put there’s pride to the side they can actually accept someone’s help and become someone

Throughout his passage, “Just Walk on By”, Brent Staples sends the message that discrimination has affected the lives of many in several negative ways. He particularly uses irony and satire as tools to prove his point, using them almost like a verbal blade to cut through public image and stereotypes, as well as his proficient use of powerful diction and syntax to strike rememberable points into the reader’s mind. Staple’s use of irony is very simple yet effective. His message is that he is not a stereotypical black criminal, so he portrays himself as one to show how ridiculous that it really is. When he says “My first victim was a woman”, he tries to conjure up images of a stalker or a murderer or even just a plain old mugger, which is what…

Discrimination is a prevalent issue in society that has decreased over time, but is still occurring. It can be found in more subtle ways than in the past when Whites had their own water fountain to drink out of and Blacks were forced to sit in the back of the bus. The movie, Crash, depicts the prejudice that is present in modern day society. The characters show how people of different races and social classes interact with one another. The stereotypes about the different races are evidently present throughout the film.…

Movies have been an outlet for my boredom for as long as I can remember. Whether it was to watch a comedy for a great laugh or a documentary for educational purposes, I always searched for a movie to see. The movie could have the worst reviews in the planet and somehow I would always end up watching them. I always thought that watching a movie should be good and fun time, which is why watching The Happening(2008) for a second time was not a good idea. The first time I was concentrated on the plot and didn’t really have a positive or negative opinion about it.…

As a child growing up in California, I used to adore children who grew up in a rich family. I remember going to one of my classmate’s house once for a school project and her house was huge, her bedroom was like my living room, her clothes was arranged like the colors of a rainbow and she had her own playroom. After that day, I went home and complained to my parents about why I didn’t have a rich family like hers, why I didn’t have pretty clothes like hers and why I didn’t have my own playroom like hers. And when we go out for shopping, I would point to the things I want and most of the time my parents would say “pick one” or “no”. In my head, I would think why couldn’t you guys buy me more than one.…
