I have a friend named Logan who I have been friends with since about the third grade. We have been pretty much best friends for that whole time. Out of all my other friends he is the one who I can trust the most. He is the one who has spent the most time doing fun things with me. Like last summer he invited me to go to the Black River. Until he invited me I had no idea what the Black River was. The Black River is a pretty small river in comparison to the Kaskaskia or the Meramec. The river is in Missouri and is about a two hour drive from our houses in Fayetteville. It has crystal clear water and when we went it was very shallow. There were only a few deep spots near where we were at.
Getting back on track, Logan invited me and our group of

This was my first time ever going there. It was beautiful. I had never seen anything like it. It was rocks that had been there for millions of years that the river had cut paths into. There were also places to jump into the water from. The highest cliffs were roped off but I did see one guy go past the ropes and jumped from the highest point. We climbed on the cliffs and jumped into the water for a couple of hours. Once we were tired of jumping we decided to go explore. As we were walking downstream I noticed that there was something moving in the water. As I got closer I realized it was a snake. Then I noticed that the snake wasn't alone. The snake had a big from by its leg. The frog was still alive and was trying to hop away but he could not get free from the snake. I threw a rock in the water near the snake to try and scare him and make him let go of the frog but the snake didn't care at all. The snake was hungry and he wasn't going to let go for anything. We ended up leaving the Shut Ins around three in the afternoon and went to a town i forgot the name of. We stopped at the gas station to buy Josh some new water shoes because his were too big so rocks were getting in and hurting his feet. There was a fireworks stand out front so we bought a bunch of bottle rockets and smoke bombs. After that we went down the street to an ice cream shop. We sat inside the air conditioning and ate our ice cream. It was amazing. Once we finished our ice cream we headed back to the cabin. Everyone was pretty beat once we got back that everyone went a took a nap besides Alan and I. We played games until everyone got up again. Once everyone got up from their naps we got back in our swim trunks and headed back out into the river. We went miles up the river this time. We would find and nice spot to swim, stay there for a while, then we would continue upstream. We ended up going so far that we didn't want to continue going

During the age of colonialism, several European rivals raced to the New World to expand their empires; naturally, settlers from competing countries treated the Indians they encountered differently. The English tried making friends but viewed them as savages, the French adopted a policy of inclusion while slowly forcing religious views, and the Spanish mistreated the Indians due to the greed for silver and gold. The inhumane treatment of the Indians by the English spans back to the first colonies. Massachusetts Bay Colony was one of the first Chartered Colonies for the British in America.…

Southwest Louisiana is characterized by extensive coastal marshland interrupted by numerous forests atop relict beach ridges, or chenier ridges, and natural ridges or levees. The cheniers of southwest Louisiana and the natural ridges of southeast Louisiana are unique geological features that are critical components of the ecology of these areas. They support a diversity of wildlife and, because of their location along important migration pathways, are especially important for Neotropical migratory songbirds. Available long term data sets reveal population declines among many migratory landbirds species over the past quarter century ().…

There are many places I hold dear to my heart such as traveling to the mountains, visiting my grandma or going down to the Russian River and swimming in the freezing green river. But one particular place that stands out in my memory is Mount Shastina. We have gone to Mount Shastina during times of snow and during times of intense heat, which has exposed me to different activities that depend upon the climate. I have been going there, to McCloud, which is North of Mt. Shasta, with my family for as long as I can remember. In the center of a desert lies our rustic cabin with 3 bedrooms and a nice fireplace to keep us warm.…

England had been in religious turmoil for years after Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-five theses to the door of the All Saints’ church in Whitenburg, sparking the protestant reformation. Over the years, English Puritans had risen to power in parliament and accused King Charles I of holding onto Catholic beliefs. Tensions between both King and parliament only increased in 1629. King Charles claimed his right to rule through divine right, dissolving the parliament of England altogether. Following this decision, along with the dismissal of hundreds of Puritan ministers by Archbishop William Laud, thousands of Puritans left England, seeking out religious freedom in the new world.…

The North American Police State Hidden Beneath our Noses For us North Americans, it is difficult to understand the life in a police state. Why? It’s because we have rights and freedoms and privacy that are all taken very seriously by the law as well; we even have our own privacy commissioners to monitor the protection of our privacy. Everyone in North America, even criminals, is treated lawfully so it’s hard to believe that these are all lies that we were told. We North Americans are in fact living in a police state where none of the above exists; where the police have access to all citizens’ personal information and people are treated unlawfully.…
