“The Black Parade” and “Danger Days” are both concept albums that follow a specific storyline. The story of a character a terminally ill cancer patient called “The Patient” is told in My Chemical Romance’s “The Black Parade. In the album, the songs show the patient reminiscing on his life, then dying, and joining the afterlife in a phantom parade called “The Black Parade.” The Patient's story is introduced in the song, "The End," before he learns that he will die in the track, "Dead! Both albums contain emotional ballads and complex composition. Both records are fast-paced and adrenalized, but the records are also very different. This can be recognized by the complex and layered tracks of “The Black Parade” vs. the pop-y synthesized tracks heard throughout “Danger Days”. In a way, you could say the sound of “Danger Days is very cinematic while “The Black Parade” is very theatrical. When listening to “Danger Days” the feeling is as if you’re in a movie and the soundtrack is on blast. When you close your eyes while listening to “The Black Parade” you feel as if you are at a rock opera with a full
