There are many things that our society still haven 't come to accept yet. We are currently living in the 21st century; however, we are as closed-minded as we were in history. Gorge Zimmerman a neighborhood watchman on February 26, 2012 decided 19 year old Trayvon Martin; a young unarmed African American boy, wearing a hoody was a threat and subsequently shot him. Regardless of what political orientation or race one is, there is only one reason Zimmerman considered Martin a threat, because of his race .Race matters because it is the skeleton which certain beliefs, attitudes, opinions, assumptions, and biased conclusions are shaped. Black Lives Matter emerged out of police officers murdering unarmed black men specifically, and the justice system not punishing the shooters. Multiple cases like Eric Garner where 8 armed and trained officers choked an unarmed black man to death for the crime of selling dollar cigarettes (CNN). The movement first came about after the George Zimmerman case where an adult white male followed a young black teenager shooting him multiple times and killing him simply because he wore a hoodie. This social movement brought attention to racial profiling against African Americans that have been mistreated or even killed because of the color of their skin. Written in the article George Zimmerman’s Way is the American Way, “Racial profiling-and its lethal consequences-may or may not be “his way” but it 's the American way.” In American if you’re black, you are assumed to be a threat meaning your intentions or to either rob, kill, or harm someone. The massacre in Charleston at a church where nine African Americans were shot to death in a hate crime clearly shows why the term Black Lives Matter should be used over All Lives Matter. It is the parents of African American children who have to worry in fear because one day their child may take a different way home in a white neighborhood or a black child who chooses to wear a hoodie inside a store.…
