In addition, it unites the black community to fight against the unjust court system. This movement has recently created a 10 step plan which addresses the abuse of power made by police.They call this plan Campaign Zero.Campaign Zero was founded in August of 2015. The first step is to stop police from pulling people over for minor crimes such as drinking alcohol beverages in the middle of the street, having marijuana, disorderly conduct, trespassing, and loitering. Secondly, the community should decide how the police officers should be punished. Thirdly, the police should limit the use of deadly force by carrying a less lethal weapon, and banning chokeholds. Fourthly, there should be independent investigations when there is police misconduct. Fifthly, the local police department should be the same race as the majority of the community they serve in. Sixthly, it will be mandatory for police to have body cameras on them. On July 10, 2015 the protesters were able to remove the Confederate flag from the South Carolina statehouse. African-Americans believed that this flag represented white supremacy and racism.They have brought awareness to the unjust police system. In the Fall of 2015, African-American students from the University of California were able to convince their college to withdraw an investment of $30 million in private prisons. The students stated, “It is ethically embarrassing,” that the college invested money into private prisons.
