The Black Lives Matter Movement And The Civil Rights Movement

The Black Lives Matter movement was created as a response to the unjust killings of unarmed black men and women in the United States. The purpose of black lives matter is create awareness to killings that are happening and that have been happening in the country. They would also like to bring about change in the way the cases are handled, due to the fact that many of the police officers who shoot and kill unarmed black men do not get indicted. This creates an impression that black lives do not matter because black people are murdered and the perpetrators do not face jail time. The movement, which was created on the internet through social media try and do a good job of bringing awareness to these issues and have gained tremendous attention and support throughout the last couple of years since they began.

What our society can learn from the BLM movement is how to stay relevant. Unlike other movements in the past few years, the BLM movement has managed to remain a trending topic throughout the years. Many movements and causes have come and gone; Kony 2012, Bring Back Our Girls, but the BLM movement refuses to be put on the back of people 's minds.
