The Biological Impact Of Genetic Determinants In My Family

Genetic determinants are said to have biological differences that are the reason for different personality traits in family members. According to the textbook, “genetic differences and different life experiences, both within and outside the family, contribute to personality differences among siblings” (Cervone & Pervin 2013). Although some siblings may be similar, their different genetics cancel out their shared genetics. In studying the brain and the biological impact of genes on a personality, the environment someone is in also impacts that personality. The genetic determinants are considered to be under the terms of growth and development. Growing up with a sibling changes the dynamics of a family and can place hardships and moments on a functioning family life. I am a lot closer to my brother than a lot of people are to their siblings, yet we are very different from each other. My brother has a true ‘older brother’ mentality, always looking out for me, checking up on me, and willing to do anything for me. These traits were obvious at early ages, following me and watching after me.
