In schools, any type of saying you say can either hurt you or help you in school. But people misinterpret this. Many schools are not allowed to teach a topic that is against civil right, religion, or evolution due to their lack of saying in the society. But why can older people say things that won 't affect them and student say things that do affect them. Students and/or teachers are able to speak what they want in school. They can wear what they want (limited by school), and can have posters on their walls, but there are limits from the schools. But most schools either go too far or do too little. Any student that is under the age of 18 is not an adult. And they should be treated as followed. But that doesn 't mean that when they go to a football game they can say negative things to the other team, or if they bully someone in school, they can’t do anything. But what 's going to stop them? Schools have been debating whether to take away students freedom of speech throughout regions of of the country. That is against what the first amendment says. But how can they take away a student 's freedom if they are 18 or older and they are adults. Many people believe that they can say whatever they want and get away with it. The only time that this is true is if there is a debate or a type of election where your voice can be heard. Can a student where a shirt that says “I hate the United States,” and can the school take that away? In the 60s to 70s, there was a debate called the Tinker vs Des Moines. This was a group of kids who wore black arm bands showing the Vietnam War. This case was taken all the way to the Supreme Court and they decided they could wear them. But now why can schools change what the Supreme Court rules. Why do we allow this? This all goes against freedom of speech and schools can shimmy through this, but how much can they really do to a single
