Sellers and producers think that they are at risk of lawsuits for health and safety issues when donating food. There is a belief among manufacturers, retailers and restaurants that there is little protection from lawsuits when it comes to food donations. There are clear misunderstandings and misconceptions of the law among employees and workers simply look past it without looking further into it. These beliefs are not based on experience, as there are no documented cases of criminal or liability charges against food donors who have donated food that later caused harm to another person.
