I mentioned previously that I thought all work would be the same regardless of the person’s characteristics, that most assignments end up the same as once work starts, it would become robotic. I realized that because of the different motivations and interest that people have they don’t necessarily give 100% or think critically during their work process. It takes some mixture of encouragement and goal setting to truly reach people into putting in true effort into their work, and therefore attain better results no matter the challenge. This understanding of group dynamics is hard to wrap your head around, especially when you are in the middle of such group dynamics, but I’ve learned that’s it important if you want to fight off the negative aspects of group work, especially in larger groups. While I was initially aware of such a thing existing, it was hard to put into words before I started studying exactly what group dynamics entails for a leader and what the best way to influence different types of people was. This class has taught me that using one broad paint stroke to motivate or to accomplish work leaves people with work they can’t feel motivated to work hard at, or feel bothered to complete at all. It’s both important for a leadership position and for personal achievement that I should analyze how any dynamic is set up between me and others to better accomplish any goal set before
