The Biggest Problem Of Homelessness In Portland, Portland

The biggest problem in Portland, Oregon is homelessness and in order to solve this problem Portland officials are providing homeless families with “tiny houses” to decrease the homelessness in Portland. I feel this is the most effective solution because for the first five years the homeless families are allowed to live in the tiny houses for free to help allow them get back up on their feet. Five years should be able to give them enough time to get back up on their feet and if that is not enough time the homeowners who have these “tiny houses” can charge rent to the families to stay a bit longer if they need which is a win-win situation for both the homeowners and families which is why I see this as an effective solution. As well as how the Portland officials are willing to do their best to solve this problem makes me believe they can solve this problem. …show more content…
As it does state that “ This project… is as important as the work we’re doing on shelters because we have far too many families living in our shelters,” and “We want them to move permanent housing as quickly as possible.” Which shows that Portland officials are trying to make sure they can get families to finally go on their own which is why I believe Portland officials will be able to solve the homelessness
