The Big Game: A Short Story

I had been on pins and needle all day, today was the day. The day of the big game. I was relieved and terrified when the final bell blared. I hurried down the stairs and around the corner, my feet pounding on the purple and white linoleum.
“Hey Sarah.” Someone called. I didn’t even attempt to turn around to see who called. I swung open the locker room door to change into my gear and then head off to the field. As I walked down the hill, which lead to the field, I checked my watch it was only 3:45. The game started at 5.
“Plenty of time I” whispered in my head.
I helped the captains set up the field. We huddled up to yell typical pregame chants and then assumed our field positions. The team we had been playing was slightly more physical than usual and this lead to an interesting event…
“Murphy” I screamed indicating I was passing the ball to her. We started to get into a great rhythm passing the ball and scoring, and soon enough our team was up 3 points. This was great news for our team half time was called, and then all hell broke loose.
I turned my head to listen to the other team's mid game huddle.
“WE NEED TO WIN THIS GAME” Yelled the coach.
“YOU GUYS ARE BIGGER

But there was a problem, we had no more subs. I strapped a bag of ice onto my butt, and with a lot of tape i was send back onto the field. At this point there was only about 10 mins left, but nothing can top the humor of seeing me prancing around with ice taped to my rear. At about 5 mins left my bag broke, releasing ice all over the girl I was playing. Lucky this allowed me to clear it and we scored again, finally ending the game. We ended up winning and the other team was slightly unhappy with the results, and a few began to throw whatever they could pick up. I made everyone wait to shake hands until I got another bag of ice.
