Halsey Valley Victory House Reflection

The experience in my life that’ has helped me is, I have been going to bible study at the Halsey Valley Victory House. Paul Estro leads the Bible stud there on Tuesday nights. We would discuss certain passages in the Bible. We would have discussions on what the Bible is saying to us. He would also have notes written out for us to follow him. If I did not understand what he was talking about, I would ask questions. When I was going there, I was learning more about the Bible. We would also take our time breaking down the verses piece by piece. He did this so we could understand what every verse was saying to all of us. I loved how Paul would take his time to help us understand the Bible. As I was sitting there I would take time to reflect on what the Bible is saying to me. We have also gone to the hospital to visit people that were sick. When we got down there, I sat down in the cafeteria I wrote down what god had wanted me to say to these people. When it was my turn to go in those different rooms, I would speak to that person what God has revealed to me. I enjoyed visiting those people, because God had wanted me to speak to them. I felt his presence there. By going to Bible study, I have learned more about the Bible. I have been blessed by God word. One day in the summer we had a cookout with music and prayer, We also had a …show more content…

I relate to Fil Anderson when he said he read the Bible to support his own interests and desires. He read and listened to what he wanted to hear and picked and chose parts in the Bible that he liked. This resignates with me - It’s so easy to do! But I have learnt from reading this that God wants us to read the Bible with open ears to listen to him and allow him to transform our lives. Now before I have my quiet time I am going to pray, “Lord, right now as I read your Word, will you take this time to speak to me about how I can grow more like you, will you convict me, and transform my life.…

Andrea Palpant Diley in the start of her book focuses a lot on the concept of what I call a dependent child 's faith. She shares many stories from her childhood that shaped her life and the one about the hitchhiker really drew my attention. She about talked how embarrassed she was as her father preached to the young hitchhiker in the car. This reminded of a lot of times in my childhood when I would travel around with my grandmother. She always would find a person to preach to, wither we were in the clothing store or the gas station.…

Sometimes it can be difficult to understand why I have to take classes that do not seem important to me. As a Public Health major I do not enjoy taking a computer science class or an art class, but as I discussed all of these things are equally important to God. This means that the more I understand there different areas the more I understand what is important to God. Having this knowledge allows me to have better relationships and understanding with those around me and a better relationship and understanding with God. Putting these ideas into practice has allowed me to understand God more which has strengthened my relationship with Him immensely and has allowed me to find shalom in my…

On the day of Friday October 21st, 2016, at the scene of Mays Landing Court House inside the Criminal Division court room, the Honorable Judge Damon G. Tyner, JSC presided. Throughout the day Judge Tyner observed both sentencing as well as motion cases. Before arriving to the court house I reflected on my expectations; I was expecting to see this large courtroom with ten to twelve rows and massive windows. I expected to hear no talking while the Judge spoke, I also expected most to be dressed professional. As for my expectations for the Judge, I thought he would be more short tempered and impatient. As far as my expectations being met in some cases they were in others they were not.…

The Bible is for us to understand the truth behind the Lord and understand each book in context. We connect with the Lord more and more each time we read the Scriptures and as a result gain something from it. Our effects and outcomes of what we read brings us closer to God as well. Paul states that we must not just read the Scriptures, but merely look at the words, examine them thoroughly, and insure the force and impact with the Bible’s purposes. When we read the Bible, we should not rush through it as if we don’t have time.…

The Word of God says, “Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” 2 Timothy 2: 15. The Word of God is God’s wisdom. The more of God’s Word you have in your spirit, the more of His wisdom you would have working in your life. And the best way you can have so much of God’s Word in your spirit is by daily studying your Bible. Mind you, I said ‘daily studying your Bible’ and not reading your Bible.…

    1) Meet with people for mutual encouragement. Meeting with others to help build them up and so that you too may also be encouraged in your faith is important. A Biblical life is not one that can be easily be lived in isolation but must instead be shared and enjoyed with others. In my life this looks like being involved in a small group of women, having individual friends I meet or check-in with on a weekly basis, and having a mentor. While these people and relationships change over time, it is important to be engaged with people who will encourage you and who you can in turn encourage.…
