How did the universe get here? How did anything come to exist? This simple but huge philosophical question has plagued mankind for millennia. And, of course, they have tried to answer it in different ways. However, Christians believe that in the Bible, more specifically in Genesis, God gives an account of how He created everything in six days. Also, scientific evidence is consistent with the belief that the physical universe was designed by God. This evidence is shown by the Genesis flood with its lasting effects, by the beautiful and underlying design of an ultimate Designer, and even down to the very structure of atoms. This consistency is key to a Christian’s belief because, “If creation is really a fact, this means there is a Creator, …show more content…
God sent this flood as a punishment to the wicked people of the earth and to start over with Noah and his family. The Flood itself is probably ranked number one on the list of events that have shaped the earth physically since creation. It played a big role in the formation of mountains, valleys, and even continents! “Mountains rose and valleys sank to the levels you decreed. Then you set a firm boundary for the seas, so they would never again cover the earth.” (Psalm 104:8-9) Today people look at a natural wonder like the Grand Canyon and know that it was formed by water eroding the rock and soil away over time. But that is where the agreements stop. Non-creationists think that the Grand Canyon was carved out by water slowly over millions or even billions of years. This clearly goes against the Bible and its teachings. It has been researched and proven that the Biblical Creation would have had to happen around six thousand years ago. (Morris, “How Old Is The Earth”) Even with a thousand year margin of error, that number is still exponentially less than the now widely accepted billions. But to some, this lesser age raises the issue of how something like the Grand Canyon can occur in only thousands of years. And the answer is that it cannot. At least, not without a worldwide flood. Noah’s flood gives the explanation for this phenomenon as that much water over shorter period of time could certainly have the same effect. ("Creation Topic.") And on the other hand, the flood also laid down many layers of rock and soil and turned it into sediment rock. This could also be interpreted to have happened over an extensive time but the flood sped this process to an extreme extent. (Morris, Henry and John Morris 28) This rapid filling in of sediment is why scientists find anomalies like trees standing up through multiple layers of sediment which should have taken hundreds of thousands of years to

For example, water (i.e. rainfall or fast flowing water) can move weathered materials along with the flow of water. As the speed of the water flow affects the size of grains the water can move. Through the transportation of the soil the soil is then deposited in another location commonly down - stream or at the bottom of cliff faces. Erosion can also be caused by ‘unnatural’ factors such as human interference. The exposing of soft soil can cause soil to be easily eroded away.…

Annie Brown Dr. Jordan Geology Oct. 4th Krakatoa Mother nature is a forced not to be taken lightly. Although many think that geological events (nature) will never effect their life, in a major way at least, it is never known when the next tragic, devastating, and monumental event will occur. Human caused catastrophes, like 9/11, touch the lives of thousands of people. However, after reading the book "Krakatoa" by Simon Winchester, I learned that one geological catastrophic event can change and affect the lives of millions.…

Exfoliation, mass wasting, and trickling water remove the lessened material enlarging hollows into alcoves. A final uplift caused the streams to down cut rapidly, removing sediment and creating canyons. If the bedrock is wetter, then older alcoves will form, deepen, and then collapse within the canyons walls, while new alcoves are being created. Headward erosions in the canyon, made a drainage pattern, which was really intense during the cooler and more humid climates. In present time, we have a much drier climate, which is causing the erosional process to move at a much slower rate.…

Due to my working hours, l can’t be there when my son’s come home from school, so my wife will have them call me at work shortly after they arrive. When my son’s and I converse generally we talk about the events of their day. recently my oldest son (13) calls and tells me of a bully who has called him names and my son is asking what he should do, how should he respond? It was during this conversation that the words of Jesus from John 15 ran through my mind: 18 “If the world hates you, [e]you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.…

Natural disasters throughout the world can cause various effects on these pressures causing the creation of structures similar to the mudboils of Tully Valley. Globally, mudboils occur in various conditions and change the composition of their ecosystems. Earthquake activity has caused incidents of complete landfall and extended ejections of up to 250 miles (Kappel 1996, pp. 5). Also, tectonic forces have caused marine sediment deposits that create extremely high pore-water pressures along with longer lasting sand springs (Kappel 1996). Varying conditions of geologic activity are the main culprits behind these spewing sediment formations.…

Dictionary.com defines erosion as, “the process by which the surface of the earth is worn away by the action of water, glaciers, winds, waves, etc.” 80 million years ago, the North American Plate slid under the Pacific Plate when they collided at North America’s west coast. The Rocky Mountains formed as a result of this collision, and it also caused the uplift of the Colorado Plateau. The Colorado River flowing over the rising Plateau created something of a “buzz saw,” or a deep groove in the surface of the plateau.…

our bodily representation of God. The fall begins as we begin to reject our created responsibility to represent the Lord and we begin this responsibility onto idols. We then deny our calling to live and we begin to cultivate the earth in disobedience. Either we image God in our loving rule of the earth, or we forfeit that task in disobedience. For disobedience goes against the very grain of creation itself, that sin is rebellion against the creator and the creator of reality.…

But really how did that happen would be most people questions. 50 million years ago, the wide view of a wide area of beautiful land consisted of rolling hills, broad valleys, and wandering streams. The Merced River wandered through a wide trough whose slopes supported hardwood forests. Then 10 million years ago, A more dissected landscape ensued as the whole range was uplifted and tilted westward. This westward tilt accelerated the Merced River's flow and the river cut deeper into its valley.…

The Bible also gives a pictorial view of what exactly happened. Looking at a globe, one cannot deny that the land masses of continents could connect together like a jigsaw puzzle to make one large land mass. This shows that the world we live in today is nothing like the world before the flood. Looking at the evidence deposited in the earth from thousands of years ago, something that can be seen, touched, smelled, will be paramount in understanding the truth about the Great Flood. As a matter of fact, the evidence of fossils will not only prove there was aquatic life over the earth, but evidence in high places around the globe.…

However, build up of sedimentary soils do not take years to build up. Layers of sediment settle with the movement of water and, "the thickness of the sediment is dependent upon the size of the particles within the water" (fondriest.com). With this knowledge, it can be assessed that something like this would have happened during the great flood in Genesis. The massive amount of water that swept of the earth would have given plenty of time for particles to settle in varying layers and colors. This proves that just because some scientist has a theory it does not mean that they have thought about every possible option for there to be varying layers of sediment on the earth.…

Science is often proven by studies and theoretical factual evidence, but the same can be said for the Bible. The Bible does present realistic verification to support how certain events may have taken place. These events have been proven to correlate with historical text and depictions such as drawings and written record in assorted languages which have nothing to do with religion or Christianity. History has always been explained through testament, but will always require some form of substantiation to support these statements. Without substantial evidence, testament is nothing more than information being passed from one another which is known as hearsay.…

This is a common question that everyone ask and all though many studies have been done, no one has a definite answer. This is one of those questions that can be debated for a long time but know one one knows the real answer. This question splits people into two general groups, the believers in God and the believers in science. The believers in science don't believe in God because they think everything was created naturally or by the big bang theory, while the believers in God are usually religious and believe that the bible and Jesus are clear evidence that God exist. Both of the sides are neither wrong nor right and the only way to find if God exist is up to God himself.…
