What is the diffrence between obesity and malnutrition? Obesity is a term used to describe someone who is very overweight with a high degree of body fat. Malnutrition is the lack of proper nutrition,caused by not having enough nutritious food to eat.

Obesity is killing three million people a year worldwide.Obesity is determined by using weight and height to get a number called body mass index. It tells you the amount of body fat you have. BMI is a person 's weight divided by his or her height. The National Institutes of Health now defines normal weight, overweight, and obesity according to BMI rather than the old height/weight charts. Anything over 25 is considered overweight. More than a third of adults were obese in 2011.Worldwide obesity

There are many reasons why so many people are overweight.One reason why the obesity rate has doubled since 1980 is due to high fructose corn syrup which was introduced in the 1970s and is added to a a lot of foods these days. You can find it in cookies, soft drinks, spaghetti sauce, bread and many other common products. Some think high fructose corn syrup is causing the increase of obesity. Researchers at the National Institutes of Health found that rats who are fed high fructose corn syrup gain more weight than rats who are fed table sugar. Another reason people are overweight is because of fast food restaurants.The main cause of obesity is overeating, a person consumes more food than the body can utilize.Obesity is commonly associated with the wealthy members of the society who are the main victims of obesity.Lack of physical exercise is also a leading cause of obesity. It is likely that individuals who do not participate in physical activities are more likely to suffer the obesity. Many people spend hours in front of TVs and computers doing work, schoolwork, and other activities. In …show more content…

But the opposite is true,the more processed food you eat, the more vitamins you need. A poor diet may lead to a vitamin or mineral deficiency, among other essentials, sometimes resulting in scurvy, which is a condition where an individual has a vitamin C ,ascorbic acid, deficiency.The World Health Organization says that malnutrition is by far the largest contributor to child mortality
