The Betrayal
Prologue
Yevgeni Malkin did not have much time. He was in the control of the Novosibirsk center of intelligence, or the NCI, the Russian intelligence and night operations agency. He was actually an employee there until a couple weeks ago when he was fired due to unfaithfulness towards his superior commanders. But here he was at 2 am in the morning, breaking in to one of the most secretive bases in the world. But he knew every inch of the base from working there for 3 years. He knew where every security camera was and which direction they were facing and what time the guards came around for inspection. And he knew he was running out of time. So why was he doing this? Before he got fired, the Russian president Pladimir Vutin came

‘So Mr. President, what brings you here?’ asked the general.
‘I’m here for the updates on our nuclear weaponry and when they shall be finished. We are behind on our schedule and at this rate, those American scum will have more power than us. We need to make sure that does not happen. Am I clear?’ demanded Pladimir.
‘Of course Mr. President. I’m sure however that if the scientists were aware of why they were working on such mass weapons of destruction they would work faster-‘
‘No, we cannot allow anyone to know of my plans for world domination. We must keep this a secret until our attack takes place. Even our so called “Allies” such as Germany and Poland will be destroyed after we have taken over the world.’ Said Pladimir.
‘I understand’ said the General.
Before the conversation could go on any longer, Yevgeni quickly ran away, unable to believe what he was hearing. The president was betraying his own people. How corrupt had the countries of the world become? He knew he would have to take action, but he knew he couldn’t do it alone. So he went to the only person in the base he could trust, his co-worker and childhood friend Pavel

But I do not think that the other workers will agree. They will have you reported and sentenced to death for being a traitor. So we must do this secretly without any one else knowing of this.’
‘But there are only the two of us. What chance do we have against a powerful country like Russia and its political leaders?’ questioned Yevgeny.
‘I had already thought of that when you were telling me everything about Pladmir’s plan. We must inform the other countries of what Russia is planning, including Germany and Switzerland. If what Pladimir said about not even his allies surviving is true, they are not safe from Russia’s wrath. We need to make sure that all the other countries form an alliance against Russia and stop Pladmir. We must not worry about the citizens of Russia and what will happen to the nation once it has been defeated because we can think of that after and if Russia is stopped.’ Told Pavel.

‘Alright. So how do we do

The difference between them; however, is how they present the idea of why we would use the atomic bomb in this circumstance. Document B, leaves the ending more open, letting the reader infer why we would drop the bomb. The author, a commander in the air force, would have known the true reasons, but yet again, like Truman, does not want to scare the public. He ends his argument in saying that “atomic bomb or no atomic bomb, the Japanese were already on the verge of collapse.” He wants the reader to understand what he is saying, which is that the U.S.A. was strictly doing this to scare Soviet Russia. Document F on the other hand, written by a physicist states this fact blatantly, that we need to do this to scare the Soviet Union.…

    J. Cole said that the initial thought is that if “we overthrow the oppressors..we destroy the system, that means we’ll have less of greed” but then he talks about that these people clearly are not looking at history. Throughout history there have been many instances when citizens would dethrone their oppressors and would take their spots just to do the exact same thing. Thus when J. Cole speaks these ideas to his audience he is trying to convince this new generation that jumping to the conclusion that a revolution is the only correct answer is not correct, this new generation needs to think about the consequences and whether or not they will be able…

I believe his argument about colonialism is ironic and contradicting as he claims these two opposing statements. There can be many “what if” statements concerning the Cold War, but my belief is that America did ruin any trust that was held between Russia and the U.S. when they avoided telling the Soviets about the creating of an atomic bomb. I feel as though America did not have faith in Russia’s honesty, and wanted to avoid any attention towards the United States and the atomic bomb. Because the Soviet Union was in such ruins, why would they want to risk breaking forces when they needed it most? As expected, Russia went to large measures to protect themselves, and the United States saw this as a threat.…

Thus, in Dr. Strangelove it is emphasized that, “Yes but the whole point of the doomsday machine…. is lost if you keep it a secret! Why didn’t you tell the world, eh?” In addition, Failsafe dramatizes cold war anxieties about the meaning of automation when it comes to the detonation of the atomic bomb. Anxiety was increasing because people were involved in the judgment and decision process which would activate the machines. The possibility emerged that nuclear war could be triggered by a mechanical error in the automated systems.…

This simply means that he had to consider all other aspects, but mainly focus on what was right in terms of war. Because of the conflict and fighting that had already been occurring, including the surprise bombing of Pearl Harbor a few years prior, Truman did have the justification he needed to give the order. The atomic bombs would make an end to the war much quicker, but would also provide vengeance to those of the Pearl Harbor attacks and give justice to the funding and time put into creating it. Alternatives had been brought, most suggesting that bombing a less populated area would be enough to intimidate them. However, Truman dismissed this and stated it wasn’t go to be enough to force them to surrender.…

After Cheka’s raids Lockhart felt that he might be asked to leave Moscow, so he asked Reilly to handle the agreement with the Latvians. This plan with the Latvians turned out to be a complete disaster and “the Lockhart plot became on open secret at the top of the communist leadership” (155). The next morning our British agent had been arrested, he found out shocking newspaper claims which said that he was the head of the Allied conspiracy, which included the murder of the Communist leaders Lenin and Trotsky and buying up the Latvians. Lockhart was arrested at the time when the Chekist leader was assassinated and later that day few shots were fired at Lenin after he gave a speech to factory workers. The events played out in a way that the British decided to break contacts with French and the US agencies in hopes of being…

Many soldiers went to war and lost their lives for this country, and they have never been told the exact reason for this war; they should be rightfully informed by the government the actual reason for being sent to another country to risk their lives. It would be the right thing to do because someone is not going to give their life and find out that it is meaningless. The difficult part is trying to get the government to reveal their true intentions to the public. The government is smart, so they hide the facts from its citizens and make them believe that what they are doing is the best choice to make. This is their way of manipulating the country and doing whatever they want whilst having the American people on their side when they make decisions.…

Following the Korean War, the United States was convinced that more had to be done to combat communism. The goal had shifted slightly from simply containing communism, to pushing it back. Eisenhower proposed liberating countries under attack from communist ones, much like the Truman doctrine, but the plan failed. Unrest in Eastern Europe led to rebellions, but the United States refused to help the protesters, and the USSR quelled the unrest. Despite that, the United States increased its stockpile of nuclear weapons to be sure that the Soviets would be deterred from either bombing the US or invading Berlin, due to the theory of massive retaliation.…

For humanity is still needlessly aggressive, it is time for use to realise these traits are obsolete, in a world, which could provide for everyone. It is time for humanity to grow up and work towards a future, which will set people free from constraints of coercive governments, who attempt to use nuclear weapons to control and to conform. Ultimately those who order the missiles to fire will not suffer as we will suffer, for they have nuclear bunkers in which to take shelter. By agreeing with the use of such weapons you are agreeing to be used as cannon fodder. It is time for people to realise this is all nuclear weapons and trident will ever achieve, untold misery.…
