It is your first day of school, but this year you are the top dog. With only one year reaming you want it to be the best year of high school. A few months go by and everyone is asking which colleges you are applying to. Still unsure, you list off a few potential opponents. In the back of your head, you have no clue where you are going, or even where to start. This essay might just help you find you “dream college”.
Most of the time you have an idea of what you want to major in, or have an area of interest. This is a great place to start. Depending on the major you choose it can narrow it down a lot. If you have a popular major like business or education it might not help too much. When looking at colleges with your major you want to look at a few key point. First, look at the size of the program. Some schools have the major that you are looking at, but they have a small program. Other schools will have a whole building just for you major. Next, look at the rank compared to other schools. Having a big building with your major can be great, but if it has a low rank compared to other schools it might not be the right school for you. Now you want to look at cost and what you can afford. Let’s be real, though, who can really afford college. You want to choose a college where you will not be in big debt. Looking at the cost of college, most will be about 31 thousand dollars a year. Do not stress too much though there are so many ways to pay college off. Before you pick a college to look at your financial aid and scholarships were given from the school. The most expensive school that is on your list could quickly become the cheapest with Grants, and Scholarships. You cannot count a school out tell you look at financial aid.
