The following article “What Are the Benefits of Being an Omnivore?,” written by Nicholas Rossillo, explains the health benefits of being an omnivore. “Diets devoid of meat and dairy products are higher in carbohydrates, which can result in less overall strength and endurance” (Rossillo). Meat that contains lean protein, a macronutrient that helps with the body’s function, and it helps individuals with task that require strength and endurance like lifting an object and running. According to Rossillo, some studies have found that children raised on a plant-based diet are shorter than children who are on an omnivore diet. Another great thing about being an omnivore is that they are able to consume good cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL), from fish or fish oil. “HDL picks up excess cholesterol in your blood and take it back to your liver where it's broken down and removed from your body” (Mayo Clinic Staff). Personally, I wouldn’t convert into a vegetarian because I am healthy as of now. As an omnivore, my BMI stands at 20.2, a normal weight, and I watch what I eat most of the time.
