The VA telemedicine program is imerging as world leader in medicine. It’s improving patient access to care which is a valuable service. Its providing greater access to medical care for our veterans while improving outcomes. In the video it begins with a veteran who lives in Puerto Rico, with a respiratory problem. The biggest issue for that veteran is gaining access to the VA in San Juan. The veteran describes that he has to drive an hour through traffic just to get VA, when he gets there he maynot have parking. Due to the telemedicine program he drives fifteen minutes to his local VA clinic where see the pulmonologist via telemed. The physician is about to exam like as if he there with the veteran. The pulmonogist describes the equipment he uses which allows for comprehensive exam to be done. He able to assess the hear, lungs and look down the throat of patient. The docotor feels that the VA is providing an excellent service for the veterans. He feels that service makes him a more efficient provider. The second patient in the video is a veteran from Cleveland, Ohio. The healthcare provider here is a clinical psychologist that work with veterans that have spinal injuries. One such veteran she worked with veteran Bruce Poole. He had rough time with adjusting after leaving the hospical. He would have make a 8 hour drive to Cleveland to see the psychologist.
