When you hear the word space exploration you automatically think of what is really out there or do other forms of life exist. One of the biggest achievements in American history is when NASA’s Apollo 11 first touched down on the moon on July 20, 1969. As Neil Armstrong was the first American to ever step foot onto the moon, but now the space program may be in jeopardy due to significant budget cuts. What would this mean to fellow Americans if space exploration were cut down or completely gotten rid of? This could also be an economic benefit if the space research led to an alternative to the use of plutonium in batteries. Since plutonium is in a short supply and is not a renewable energy source, if an alternative energy source could be developed it could create substantial benefit to the space program and the U.S. Government. If we found a new energy source to power the batteries of our spacecraft’s we could potentially cut down the spending/costs of buying plutonium and use that money more towards research. Research takes time and can’t be rushed. It would be better to keep spending over time even if at reduced rates. The research may lead to discoveries that would increase the standard of living for everyone on Earth, including those living in …show more content…
You could argue that we have space exploration for many different reasons whether it is just to gather information or just curiosity about what is over the next hill. We may never know what we will expect to find next in space whether its solar system with a planet that can maintain life on it or whether we discover a new way to make space exploration easier and easier funded. We have to keep continuing to have space missions and launch space crafts into space to find out information but you cant rush to find new things in space, it will take a lot of money and a lot of patience to accomplish
