Terrorism is a popular and controversial topic in America. Therefore, we as a country have spent millions of dollars on finding ways to protect ourselves and creating programs to protect us against future terrorism. A lot of this has to do with calming the hysteria of the American people. Policing Terrorism is a newer idea were as most articles starting popping up around 2005 and later. 9/11 required us to open our eyes and start to brainstorm new ideas. People began to realize these terrorist attacks could happen anywhere if your community didn’t start to take action. Terrorism is seen as a crime carried out with a political motive. Thinking of it as one of the same as any crime makes the approach easier and essentially more applicable and gives a better chance of understanding. Just as opportunity can create a criminal it can make the terrorist as well. Although, motive may differ in those situations it is important in the terrorism scenario to refrain from trying to decide on a motive, because it is just a waste of time until you’ve neutralized the threat. The act will always vary based on the benefits the terrorists see and what the terrorist want to be achieved. As an agency you need to create partnerships with local businesses a private security firms to not only get everyone on the same page in case of an emergency, but to create a good rapport in the community, so therefore people and businesses would be more willing to step up in situations and come forward with information.
