Many people stop and tell themselves that they need to get into shape, but they do not have the time to do it. According to Health (2013), 69% of adults 20 years old and older are considered overweight or obese. Have you ever really wondered what the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle could bring? Living a healthy lifestyle does not mean going to a gym every day, and there are simple ways to incorporate fitness into a busy lifestyle. Along with the personal health benefits to living a healthier lifestyle, it can also have a dramatic impact on those that live around you. In the book “How I Raised Myself from Failure to Success in Selling” by Frank Bettger, the author describes how he learned to manage his time. The author explained how he found time he was previously spending unproductively and the ways he managed to change those patterns. Those who are successful in their endeavors tend to go by the number of hours in a day rather than the number of days in a week. If an individual is having trouble finding the time to add a fitness routine, they may want to try writing down their schedule for each hour of the day. It is incredible how much time a person can waste if they do not have a well written schedule. There are simple ways to include exercise routines such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator (as long as there are not 30 floors to climb) or participating in outdoor activities. Many families now spend time together by watching television or by using another form of technology. Instead of contributing to becoming a participant in a negative statistic, people can go outside and participate in sports such as basketball or baseball. Taking the family on a hiking or biking trip is a great way to explore nature and incorporate physical activity. Although, the weather is not always ideal for outside activities, there are ways of staying active indoors. Dancing is a fun way to stay active and can also reduce stress. There are even games and dance videos to help people stay active while still having fun with the family. Many people believe that fitness means going to the gym or running for hours to achieve a healthy lifestyle in order to become healthier or stronger. Strength training is a great way to achieve personal health goals, but it is not the only way. Gardening, hiking, and swimming are just a few great examples of healthy activities that can get the heart rate
