Technology is sweeping the country by storm with more advancements being created and distributed every day. Technology advancements create difficulty in deciding between technological devices, such as laptops and tablets. While attending college, technological devices are beginning to be a necessity to make it through classroom lectures and homework assignments. This necessity requires all college students to make a decision upon what technological device will best suit their needs while attending college. The most popular devices bought by college students are laptops and tablets. Owning either a laptop or tablet can benefit my classmate in a classroom setting by providing her with: active note taking ability, active learning ability, and the ability to quickly research data (Kay, R. H., & Lauricella, S. 2014). A laptop and a tablet are also both portable and accessible devices to have and carry around, which gives college students the freedom to access their devices whenever needed (Benefits and Limitations of Laptops nd). Both of these assets that a laptop and a tablet possess will improve and benefit the educational aspect of my classmate’s college life. Although, both devices are suitable for my classmate, the advantages of the laptop PC exceed the advantages of a tablet. A laptop will provide my classmate with a bigger monitor screen, which displays more information a bigger, clearer picture, which will help soothe my classmate during stressful late night homework and study sessions. A laptop also comes with a keyboard that will help my classmate with papers and presentations done on the Microsoft Office Programs. Although, a keyboard can be bought and used separately for a tablet, it will require an extra piece of equipment, which will turn it into a two in one device, which denotes the accessibility asset of the …show more content…
The technological feature of any device is the most attractive and persuasive characteristics to any individual. The technology of a laptop and tablet are both phenomenal, but the power of a laptop outweighs the power of a tablet. A laptop is considered a mobile computer, which means its storage and R.A.M (random access memory) mirror a desktop computer, but in a smaller dimension. The importance of a device’s storage and RAM are very important to the performance and expectation of a device. The storage of a device is the storing of memory and data that is saved for future use, which is important to my classmate’s incomplete assignments and presentations. The RAM of a device is the volatile memory of the device, which is important to a device’s current use (Bidgoli, H. 2016 p. 33). The RAM of a device is important to a device’s application programs and current data use because it allows these programs to be reached by the computer processor quickly. The RAM and storage capacity of a device are more powerful and faster in a laptop than a tablet, which makes it a more efficient technological
